Gonpachi....As eating with Uma Thurman

It was actually my friend who requested to go here. This restaurant(Izakaya) has help Tarantino with inspiration for Kill Bill and you can easily see the similarities if you have seen the movie. Even you are not a fan of Kill Bill this is a nice scenery and we enjoyed our evening there. The place is crowded and you need to make a reservation in good time if you want to site at the upper level, which is preferable if you want to sit and talk in a small group. If you are a bigger group I believe it would be better down stairs close to the Teppanyaki bar. There is also a different atmosphere which I would like to try once.

Even if the service bad is here, and you most likely will end up paying for something you did not eat or drink I would still recommend anyone to visit this place. The food is good the atmosphere is nice and the price is not cheap but acceptable. Do you self the favor and watch Kill Bill before you come here. It just makes your visit better.

We had made reservation and expected to be seated when arriving, but unfortunately with had our first disappointment when arrived. Even with a reservation there were no table available for us, and we sat down in 10 minutes time, until they told us we had to wait even more. We went up to 3rd level, in the Sushi bar where we ordered our first beer. Second mistake from the staff......they gave us a more expensive beer than we wanted and charged us for that.

Anyway after a few minutes waiting in the Sushi bar there was a table available for us and we brought our unfinished beers down and started to order some food. The menu is in both English and Japanese, and they have a very wide selection. The quality of the food is fine and I have no complains here. It is a bit more expensive than other Izakayas, but still acceptable. About 13.000¥ for 4 people eating and drinking. Here are some pictures of what we got.

Among others we got Asparagus with bacon, gyoza pizza, raw horse, omelet, eda mame, boiled pork and desserts. All very nice and delicious. Unfortunately the staff kept bringing stuff we did not order or forgot to bring what we ordered. It seemed like they really have logistic problems which definitely affects the service. But then again.....who would invest in better logistic and service, when you already have a full restaurant everyday.....
