Kukuna - Hawaiian hotel with perfect view of Mt. Fuji
When returning from our trip to Nikko, we decided to arrange another trip in the hope of better weather. This time we decided to go to Mt. Fuji, but again the weather was not on our side. As you can see on the picture we only got a very tiny glimpse of Fuji.
Anyways it was a great trip, and we stayed at Kukuna, a nice hotel at Kawaguchi lake with a hawaiian theme.
We paid about 50,000¥ for everything for two persons, and we enjoyed every second of the stay.
My advice would, that you should plan too much the day you are checking in at Kukuna. It is better to come early and get the full experience with the public bath and private bath if selected, and then plan the tour around Mt. Fuji for the next day.
You can find information and location below. You can also see the location on my overview map.

Kukuna is not a cheap hotel, but definitely not overpriced when looking at the level of service they provide to their customers. As anywhere in Japan, there was a guy to stop the traffic and help you park your car. On top of that there are piccolos that will carry your luggage from the car, and all the way to your room. You are then placed at a table where you can enjoy tea, juice, biscuits etc. while they take care of all the boring paperwork. This service just continues all the way to you check out, and it makes you relax and not worry about anything.

We chose a room with our own private bath on the balcony, which was perfect for enjoying the sundown in the evening and the night sky....if it hasn't been cloudy
Also included was next day’s breakfast buffet which had both western style and Japanese style breakfast. I enjoyed freshly made omelette, bread, yoghurt and fruits, and my wife got rice, fish, omelette as well.
In the evening we enjoyed a very nice dinner with 6 different dishes. You can see them all in gallery below. Beside the main course, there was a very nice buffet, with salad, pasta, bread etc. and unlimited soft ice….All in all it was a great dinner, and I got a local beer as well.
