Miraikan National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation.....sounds fun

....But it's not!!! I like Science and find everything about renewable energy and stuff like that very interesting, but this exibition really did disappoint my. I guess it is OK for kids. The Museum has all kind of information that the avarage person already know the function of. This information is then rebuild into a simpler machine to make everyone understand it.

There are all kinds of demonstrations of robots and machines, which sounds awesome to an engineer as myself. We saw the demonstration of the famous robot Asimo. I was looking forward to that, but after one of the staff told us to sit with folded legs to make space for more people(there were not more than 25, and room for maybe 150) I was a bit annoyed. The guy who presented the robot annoyed me even more with his very bad fake energy. On top of all this, to me Asimo ended out to be a robot that can walk and kick a ball very very slowly across the floor. Not very impressive.

All in all Miraikan is not a Museum I would recommend. Even the big globe, which is their pride and main attraction is note really very impressive.

If you have kids between 10-15 years old with an interest for robots, science, energy and cyber space I think it would be an OK place to go, but not for adults, and definitely not for anyone who doesn't have any interest in this stuff.
