I found this litte bar a night, when I and my friend was searching for a good place to get a drink.
The entrance to the bar looks more or less like an entrance to a small apartment, but then again…that is not unusual in Japan.
So when entering the bar we were very surprised to find thousands of different whiskeys and rums. It was perfect. We sat down at the bar wanted to try every single one of them.

I started with a Hakushu heavily Peated, which has turned out to be my favourite whiskey now. My favorite got a Captain Morgan Private Stock, which is not very diffirent from the normal Captain Morgan.
We had tried a few bars here and there, but nothing seemed to fit what we were searching. We tried everything from online recommended bars to bars with flashy signs, but eventually our attention was caught the balcony at Ze Caamm Bar. Full of bottles and garden lamps.
What I like most about this bar is the way the drinks are served to you. The bartender takes his time to explain what you are drinking, then prepares a BIG ball of ice(if you want ice in your drink). He washes the ice before putting it in the glass and then adding the whiskey or rum. Then he carefully stirs it around and serves it to you with a smile. PERFECT!

The Bartender was very friendly and service minded, and he explained a bit about some of the 2000 different bottles they have, while we enjoyed our drinks in a calm and cosy bar.
All in all I think this is one of the best bars I have visited in Japan until now and I wish it wasn’t hundreds of kilometres from my home in Tokyo.
Ze Caamm Bar is nothing fancy, and the prices are not high compared to other bars in Japan. For 4 cl of a very good whisky you will not pay more than 1000¥.
I recommend everyone who likes whiskey or rum to try Ze Caamm Bar in Kyoto. It is just the type of bar I like, with passionate personnel taking good care of the customers, a wide selection, cheap prices, no entry fee and good whiskey.
